The Intel Pentium Gold G5400, based on the Coffee Lake S architecture, was manufactured in 2018 as an entry-level desktop processor using the 14 nm process.

It features 2 cores and 4 threads, 4 MB of Level 3 Cache, and Intel HD Graphics 610. Its TDP is 58 watts. The Intel Processor N100, a newer model from the Alder Lake N family (2023), is designed for energy-efficient compact systems using the 10 nm process.

It has 4 efficiency cores and 4 threads, 4 MB of Level 2 Cache, 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, and Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units. Its TDP is only 6 watts. Both processors use PCIe 3.0 and offer a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. In terms of performance, the Intel Processor N100 significantly surpasses the Intel Pentium Gold G5400 in single-core and multi-core tasks, with over 10 percent higher computing power in each case, thanks to its more modern architecture and more cores.

Both are very limitedly suitable for gaming, although the newer integrated graphics of the Intel Processor N100 offer a slight improvement for basic tasks. The Intel Pentium Gold G5400 is primarily found on the used market and is suitable for very simple, cost-effective desktop applications.

The Intel Processor N100, with its high energy efficiency and superior performance, offers a better price-performance ratio for modern, power-saving systems such as mini PCs, thin clients, or home office computers that require more effective computing power with minimal energy consumption.
