Intel Core Ultra 7 165H vs Apple A18 Pro

Last updated:
Although both models are primarily designed for portable systems, the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H is based on the Meteor Lake H architecture and was developed by Intel for use in notebooks.

Manufactured using the 7-nanometer process, this processor utilizes a hybrid structure of performance cores, efficiency cores, and special low-power units. In common benchmarks, the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H achieves significantly higher multi-core performance than the competing model, which is advantageous for computationally intensive applications and multitasking.

However, it ranks behind in single-core performance. The integrated Intel Iris Xe 8 Core Graphics 128 EUs (Meteor Lake) enables gaming at moderate settings, supported by a maximum memory bandwidth of 120 GB/s. The thermal design power is higher, which requires appropriate cooling. It is primarily found in high-end laptops.

The Apple A18 Pro is based on the Donan architecture and is produced by Apple using the 3-nanometer process.

It is specifically optimized for mobile devices. With its 6-core configuration, the Apple A18 Pro achieves superior single-core performance that measurably exceeds the Intel chip. In multi-core performance, however, it lags significantly behind the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H.

The integrated Apple A18 Pro (6 GPU cores) graphics unit is designed for high efficiency but offers fewer thermal reserves for sustained gaming under heavy load than traditional laptop solutions due to its compact design. Power consumption is very low, which minimizes heat generation.

A standalone price does not exist as the chip is permanently installed. The recommendation depends on the preferred hardware platform and desired operating system.
