Intel Core i7-950 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-950 is based on the Bloomfield architecture and is aimed at users of classic desktop systems.

Manufactured using the 45 nm process, this processor provides four computing cores and eight threads. With a thermal design power of 130 watts, the model requires powerful cooling and consumes a lot of energy under load. When looking at single-core performance, there is a clear difference in favor of the newer architecture.

Since there is no integrated graphics unit, operation for gaming or screen output mandatory requires an additional graphics card. The memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s limits the data throughput compared to current standards. Today, this model is primarily aimed at users who want to maintain older systems or continue using specific hardware components from this generation.

The Intel Processor N100 uses the Alder Lake N architecture and is optimized for energy-efficient, compact computers.

Thanks to the 10 nm manufacturing process, it achieves a very low thermal design power of just 6 watts. It offers four cores and four threads. In single-core and multi-core performance tests, it significantly outperforms the Intel Core i7-950, with differences well over ten percent.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 execution units allows operation without additional hardware, but is limited in gaming performance by the architecture. With a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, it is technically more modern. Due to the low power consumption, it is ideal for silent office computers or media systems where efficiency and low heat generation are a priority.

Intel Core i7-950

  • Bloomfield architecture with eight threads
  • High thermal design power of 130 watts
  • Mandatory requirement for a dedicated graphics card
