The Intel Core i7-4790, introduced in mid-2014, was aimed at mainstream desktop users and performance users.

It is based on the Haswell S architecture and is manufactured using the 22 nm process. This processor features 4 cores and 8 threads. Its multi-core performance in benchmarks is significantly higher than that of the Intel Processor N150.

Single-core performance is lower in newer tests, comparable in older ones. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 is only suitable for very simple graphical tasks. With a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s and 8 MB of Level 3 cache, it provides a good foundation. A separate graphics card is necessary for gaming.

The TDP is a typical 84W, which requires adequate cooling. It is primarily available on the used market and offers good value for money for everyday tasks. The Intel Processor N150, introduced in late 2022/early 2023, is designed for energy-efficient systems such as mini-PCs. It uses the more modern Twin Lake architecture and is manufactured using the more advanced 7 nm process.

This processor is equipped with 1 core and 1 thread. It shows slightly better performance than the Intel Core i7-4790 in newer single-core benchmarks, but its multi-core performance is noticeably lower. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) is somewhat more powerful than the i7-4790's, but still only designed for basic visual tasks and very light games.

With a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, 4 MB Level 2, and 6 MB Level 3 cache, it is optimized for efficient operation. Its very low TDP, typically 6.5W, enables fanless or very quiet systems. The processor is often part of complete systems and stands for high energy efficiency.
