The Intel Core i7-4770S (Haswell S) is a processor for mainstream desktops, manufactured in a 22 nm process with 4 cores and 8 threads.

It offers 8 MB of L3 cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 21 GB/s via PCIe 3.0. The newer Intel Processor N150 (Twin Lake) for energy-efficient entry-level desktops is manufactured in a more advanced 7 nm process, has 4 cores and 4 threads, 4 MB of L2 and 6 MB of L3 cache, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, also via PCIe 3.0.

In single-core performance, the Intel Processor N150 surpasses the Intel Core i7-4770S by over 10 percent in newer benchmarks. For multi-core tasks, the Intel Core i7-4770S can achieve over 10 percent higher performance in certain tests thanks to Hyper-Threading. Neither is optimized for gaming.

The N150 with Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) offers slightly improved graphics performance compared to the Intel HD Graphics 4600 of the Intel Core i7-4770S for very undemanding applications. As an S-variant, the Intel Core i7-4770S has a higher Thermal Design Power (TDP). In contrast, the Intel Processor N150 is designed for maximum energy efficiency and has a significantly lower TDP, ideal for fanless systems.

The Intel Core i7-4770S is very affordable on the used market. The Intel Processor N150 is a more current chip found in new, energy-efficient complete systems. For modern, energy-efficient basic tasks, the Intel Processor N150 is recommended. For affordable multi-thread performance in older systems, the Intel Core i7-4770S remains an option.
