Intel Core i7-2600K vs Intel Processor N100

The Intel Core i7-2600K, introduced in early 2011, was aimed at demanding desktop users and gamers of its time.

Manufactured using the 32 nm process with the Sandy Bridge S architecture, it features 4 cores and 8 threads (Hyper-Threading), supported by 1 MB L2 and 8 MB L3 cache. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 is intended for basic image output. Its single-core performance was high for its generation, while multi-core performance was solid.

It was very well suited for gaming at the time, with PCIe 2.0 connectivity supporting dedicated graphics cards. With a TDP of 95W, it required adequate cooling. Today, it is only relevant as used goods for upgrades of older systems. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in early 2023 with the Alder Lake N architecture, targets energy-efficient, compact systems such as mini-PCs.

Manufactured using the 10 nm process, it offers 4 efficient Gracemont cores and 4 threads (without Hyper-Threading) with 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) is more modern but also intended only for simple graphics applications. Its single-core performance significantly surpasses that of the Intel Core i7-2600K, and its multi-core performance is also higher, positioning it better for modern everyday tasks.

With an extremely low TDP of 6W, it enables fanless operation and minimal power consumption, which justifies its outstanding price-performance ratio in its segment.
