Intel Core i7-1280P vs Intel Atom CE5315

The Intel Core i7-1280P was introduced as part of the Alder Lake U architecture for mobile devices.

This processor is aimed at users who require high computing power in compact laptops. Manufactured using the 10 nm process, it features 14 cores and 20 threads, enabling efficient distribution of workloads. In technical comparisons, the Intel Core i7-1280P shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance than simple base models.

Thanks to the integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96, it is suitable for casual gaming, although it is not a specialized gaming model. The thermal design power is optimized for mobility, but offers enough headroom for demanding applications. Since it is usually permanently installed in notebooks, the price-performance ratio depends on the overall system, but is appropriate for professional mobile work scenarios.

The Intel Atom CE5315 is based on the Berryville architecture and was primarily developed for media players and set-top boxes.

It is manufactured using the 32 nm process and offers only two cores and four threads. Due to these technical specifications, computing performance in all areas lags far behind powerful processors. For gaming scenarios, the Intel Atom CE5315 is unsuitable, as its graphics unit and low memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s are designed only for simple media playback.

The focus is on very low power consumption and the possibility of passive cooling. A Level 3 cache is completely missing, which limits processing speed. The Intel Atom CE5315 is hardly listed individually on the market anymore, but was originally designed as a very cost-effective solution for specialized tasks in consumer electronics.
