Intel Core i7-10700 vs Intel Core i3-14100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-10700 was designed as part of the Comet Lake S architecture for users requiring a high number of processing cores for parallel tasks.

Manufactured using the 14 nm process, this processor provides eight cores and sixteen threads. With a Level 3 cache of 16 MB, it offers a solid foundation for data processing. Internal measurements show that single-core performance lags behind more modern architectures, while multi-core performance remains stable due to the high thread count.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 enables basic graphics applications without additional hardware. With PCIe 3.0 and a memory bandwidth of 47 GB/s, the model utilizes proven standards. The thermal design power of 65 watts allows for operation with conventional cooling solutions in various case types.

The Intel Core i3-14100 is based on the Raptor Lake S Refresh architecture and is manufactured using the more modern 10 nm process.

Although the central unit has only four cores and eight threads, it significantly outperforms older models in single-core performance. It also achieves higher performance in multi-core scenarios than the older i7 model, which is due to the more modern architecture. For gamers, this processor is the better choice due to the high clock speeds per core.

Equipped with 12 MB Level 3 cache, 5 MB Level 2 cache, and PCIe 5.0, the platform offers a future-proof connection. The memory bandwidth of 77 GB/s effectively supports the Intel UHD Graphics 730. The price-performance ratio is advantageous for budget-conscious users, as modern interfaces are available.
