Intel Core i5-1334U vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i5-1334U, based on the Raptor Lake U architecture, was introduced in early 2023.

It is designed for mobile devices and targets users who need balanced performance for everyday tasks, multitasking, and moderate workloads in desktop systems. Manufactured using the 10nm process, it features a hybrid architecture with 10 cores (two performance cores and eight efficiency cores) and 12 threads, complemented by a 12MB L3 cache.

In benchmarks, it shows significantly superior single-core and multi-core performance compared to the Intel Processor N100.

Its integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics 80 (Alder Lake) with a maximum memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s even enables casual gaming and generally offers higher graphical performance. The TDP is typically 15W, which usually requires active cooling. The Intel Processor N100, also released in early 2023 based on the Alder Lake N architecture, is an ultra-low-power processor designed for basic computing applications, mini-PCs, and embedded systems.

It is also manufactured using the 10nm process and is equipped with four efficiency cores and four threads. For cache, 4MB L2 cache and 6MB L3 cache are available. Its computing power is designed for simple tasks such as web browsing, office applications, and media playback, and is consequently lower than that of the Intel Core i5-1334U.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s are suitable for very undemanding graphical requirements. With an extremely low TDP, often only 6W, it enables fanless designs and maximum energy efficiency. For gaming scenarios, the Intel Core i5-1334U is the superior choice.

Its more powerful integrated graphics and significantly higher memory bandwidth allow for playing casual games and older titles at lower settings. The Intel Processor N100, on the other hand, is primarily designed for media content playback and very undemanding games. Regarding price-performance ratio, the Intel Core i5-1334U offers higher overall performance for a correspondingly higher price, while the Intel Processor N100 offers excellent energy efficiency for a lower price.

In summary, the Intel Core i5-1334U is a more powerful processor suitable for more demanding productivity tasks, multitasking, and light gaming. The Intel Processor N100, however, is the optimal choice for applications requiring extreme energy efficiency, silent operation, and basic computing power, such as web browsing, office applications, or as a media player in compact desktop systems.
