Intel Core i3-N305 vs Intel Processor N200

The Intel Core i3-N305 and the Intel Processor N200 are processors from the Intel Alder Lake N-series, designed for energy-efficient and cost-effective systems such as mini-PCs, thin clients, or entry-level laptops.

Their focus is on basic computing power with low power consumption, making them ideal for everyday use in office or educational applications. Both CPUs are manufactured by Intel using the 10 nm fabrication process and utilize the Alder Lake N architecture. The Intel Core i3-N305 features 8 cores and 8 threads, giving it more robust multitasking capabilities.

It is equipped with 8 MB of L2 cache and 6 MB of L3 cache. The Intel Processor N200, on the other hand, has 4 cores and 4 threads, offering 4 MB of L2 cache and also 6 MB of L3 cache. In terms of single-core performance, both processors show comparable performance in some tests, with the Intel Core i3-N305 achieving significantly higher performance in certain computationally intensive single-core tasks.

However, in multi-core applications, the Intel Core i3-N305 significantly outperforms the Intel Processor N200, which is due to its double core count. Neither processor is designed for demanding games. They integrate Intel UHD Graphics (the Intel Core i3-N305 with Intel UHD Graphics 13th Gen (32 EU) and the Intel Processor N200 with Intel UHD Graphics 32 EUs (Alder Lake)), which can handle basic graphical tasks and light multimedia applications.

The maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s for both CPUs is sufficient for their target applications but not for high-performance graphics. Regarding power consumption and Thermal Design Power (TDP), the Intel Processor N200 with a TDP of 6 watts is significantly more economical than the Intel Core i3-N305, which has a TDP of 15 watts.

This makes the Intel Processor N200 particularly suitable for fanless or very compact systems. Both processors are positioned in the entry-level segment and offer good value for money for their respective areas of application. The Intel Core i3-N305 is recommended for users who need slightly higher computing power and better multitasking capabilities, for example, for more productive office work or running multiple applications simultaneously.

The Intel Processor N200 is the better choice for systems where maximum energy efficiency and passive cooling are paramount, such as for thin clients, digital signage, or very compact mini-PCs for basic tasks.
