Description of the processor

The Intel Core i3-N305 comes from the thirteenth generation of the Intel Core i3 family and belongs to the mobile segment of Intel processors. It came onto the market in the first quarter of 2023 and is manufactured in a structure width of 10 nanometers in a monolithic chip design. The processors Level 2 cache is 8.00 megabytes in size and the Level 3 cache is 6.00 megabytes in size. It is based on the Alder Lake N architecture and has no direct predecessor.

The processor is built in a normal core architecture and has 8 physical cores of the Gracemont type. The base clock frequency is 1.80 gigahertz and in turbo mode the clock speed can increase to up to 3.80 gigahertz. However, this maximum clock rate is only achieved when a single core is fully utilized. If all eight cores are fully utilized at the same time, the maximum clock frequency does not rise above 3.20 gigahertz. The Intel Core i3-N305 does not support hyperthreading and cannot be overclocked.

The Intel Core i3-N305 is equipped with 9 PCI Express lanes in version 3.0, which can be used to connect smaller dedicated graphics cards. However, it is also equipped with an internal graphics unit. The thirteenth generation Intel UHD Graphics is used here. This is equipped with 32 execution units and 256 shader units. This graphics unit was installed for the first time in the first quarter of 2023 and is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process. The base clock of the iGPU is 300 megahertz and the maximum dynamic clock rate is 1.25 gigahertz. The graphics unit can normally use up to 64 gigabytes of the systems built-in RAM as graphics memory. However, since the processor itself can only be operated with a maximum of 16 gigabytes of RAM, the graphics unit has to make do with far less than the maximum.
