Intel Core i3-8130U vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i3-8130U was introduced as part of the Kaby Lake U Refresh architecture and is primarily aimed at users of compact systems for everyday tasks.

Manufactured in a 14 nm process, this processor has two computing cores and four threads. The technical basis includes a 4 MB Level 3 cache, while a dedicated Level 2 cache is missing. In benchmarks, the processing unit shows solid basic performance, but falls behind in multi-core performance by comparison.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 is suitable for media playback, but quickly reaches its limits in games. With a memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s, the model offers adequate data transfer for simple office applications. The Intel Processor N100 is based on the Alder Lake N architecture and is designed for affordable, energy-efficient systems.

Thanks to the 10 nm manufacturing process, it offers four physical cores with also four threads. With 4 MB Level 2 cache and 6 MB Level 3 cache, it exceeds the storage capacities of the other model. In relevant tests, the Intel Processor N100 achieves higher performance in both single-core and multi-core applications.

The Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) benefits from the architecture and offers better performance in games than the comparison model. Thanks to a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s and a low thermal design power, the system is suitable for silent mini-PCs that require high energy efficiency. In terms of price-performance ratio, the Intel Processor N100 often offers advantages, as it is installed in cost-effective complete systems.
