Intel Core i3-6300 vs Intel Processor N100

The Intel Core i3-6300 (Skylake-S, 2015) was a mainstream processor for basic office and multimedia tasks.

The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake-N, 2023) is an energy-efficient processor for mini-PCs, optimized for web and light applications.

The Core i3-6300 uses 14 nm, 2 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB L3 cache, 34 GB/s memory bandwidth. The N100 (10 nm) offers 4 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB L2, 6 MB L3 cache, 38 GB/s memory bandwidth. Both support PCIe 3.0. In single-core tests (Cinebench R23), the N100 outperforms the i3-6300. Geekbench 6 shows comparable single-core scores.

For multi-core performance (Geekbench 6), the N100 is clearly more powerful. The UHD Graphics (N100) is more modern than the HD Graphics 530 (i3-6300). Neither is suitable for demanding gaming. The N100 has a slight advantage in very light games. The N100 is extremely energy-efficient with 6 Watts TDP, while the i3-6300 requires 51 Watts.

The Core i3-6300 is outdated and only relevant on the used market. The N100 offers good value for money for modern, low-power systems. For new, energy-efficient applications, the N100 is the recommendation.
