Intel Core i3-4130T vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i3-4130T, based on the Haswell S architecture, was introduced in the third quarter of 2013 and targeted energy-efficient desktop systems for basic office and multimedia applications.

It is manufactured using the 22nm process and features 2 cores and 4 threads. Compared to the Intel Processor N100, the Intel Core i3-4130T offers lower single-core and multi-core performance.

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 is only suitable for very simple graphical tasks and media playback, not for modern games. With a TDP of 35 watts, its power consumption is higher than that of the N100. As an older model, it is rarely available new and is more likely to be found in existing or used devices.

It uses PCIe 3.0, offers 26 GB/s maximum memory bandwidth, and has 0 MB Level 2 and 3 MB Level 3 cache. The Intel Processor N100, with its Alder Lake N architecture, is a current processor for energy-efficient, compact systems such as mini PCs or thin clients. It was developed for basic productivity and multimedia.

Manufactured using the more advanced 10nm process, it has 4 cores and 4 threads (efficiency cores). Its single-core and multi-core performance significantly surpasses that of the Intel Core i3-4130T. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) offers noticeably better graphics performance than the HD Graphics 4400, but remains limited to very light games.

With an extremely low TDP of 6 watts, it is significantly more energy-efficient. It offers very good performance relative to power consumption for modern entry-level systems. It uses PCIe 3.0, achieves 38 GB/s memory bandwidth, and has 4 MB Level 2 and 6 MB Level 3 cache. Summary and Recommendation: The Intel Processor N100 is the clearly superior choice for new systems looking for a modern and energy-efficient solution for everyday tasks.

It offers significantly higher computing and graphics performance with extremely low power consumption. The Intel Core i3-4130T is only still relevant if you are operating or want to upgrade an existing, older system where a low purchase price is paramount and performance demands are very low.

For all modern applications and a future-proof basis, the Intel Processor N100 is preferable.
