Intel Core i3-4130 vs Intel Core i3-4160

The Intel Core i3-4130 and Intel Core i3-4160 are desktop processors based on the Intel Haswell S architecture.

They were developed for the mainstream market and are suitable for everyday tasks. Both are manufactured using the 22 nm process, feature two cores and four threads, and 3 MB of Level 3 Cache. PCIe Version 3.0 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s are identical. In terms of computing performance, both CPUs, the Intel Core i3-4130 and the Intel Core i3-4160, show very comparable performance.

The differences in single-core and multi-core results are less than ten percent, meaning no significant advantage of the Intel Core i3-4160 is noticeable in practical use, even though it has a slightly higher clock frequency. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 enables basic graphics output but is not designed for modern games.

Regarding power consumption and Thermal Design Power (TDP), the Intel Core i3-4130 and Intel Core i3-4160 are also almost identical and designed for efficient operation. On the used market, both offer good value for money for affordable entry-level systems. Both processors are equally recommendable for office work, web browsing, and media consumption.

The decision primarily depends on availability and the lower price, as the performance difference is minimal.
