Intel Core i3-1005G1 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i3-1005G1, based on the Ice Lake U architecture and manufactured in 10 nm, is intended for energy-efficient notebooks and compact systems that require reliable performance for everyday applications.

The Intel Processor N100, also manufactured in 10 nm, uses the more modern Alder Lake N architecture and targets the market for extremely energy-efficient mini-PCs and thin clients.

Both processors are manufactured by Intel using the 10 nm process. The Intel Core i3-1005G1 from the Ice Lake U generation has a 4 MB L3 cache and 0 MB L2 cache. The Intel Processor N100 from the Alder Lake N generation is equipped with a 6 MB L3 cache and 4 MB L2 cache, reflecting a more modern cache hierarchy.

In benchmarks, the Intel Processor N100 shows over 10 percent higher single-core performance in some tests, while the Intel Core i3-1005G1 is slightly ahead in other single-core tests. For multi-core performance, the Intel Processor N100 surpasses the Intel Core i3-1005G1 by more than 10 percent in certain benchmarks, whereas the Intel Core i3-1005G1 achieves significantly better performance in other multi-core tests.

The Intel Processor N100 also provides results in Cinebench 2024. Neither processor is designed for demanding games. The Intel Core i3-1005G1 integrates Intel UHD Graphics (Ice Lake G1) with a maximum memory bandwidth of 60 GB/s. The Intel Processor N100 features Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s.

The newer architecture and the higher number of execution units of the Intel Processor N100's graphics unit generally offer slightly better graphics performance for very light games and media playback. Both processors are optimized for very low power consumption. They are designed for energy-efficient systems that often allow for passive cooling or are used in devices with limited battery capacity.

Specific pricing information is not available for a direct comparison. Both processors are positioned in the entry-level segment and offer solid performance for their respective price range, which typically focuses on cost-efficiency. For basic applications and media consumption, both processors offer sufficient performance.

The Intel Processor N100 is the newer option with a modernized architecture and potentially better integrated graphics performance in lighter scenarios. The Intel Core i3-1005G1 can offer advantages in certain multi-core applications and thanks to higher memory bandwidth.
