Intel Celeron N4505 vs Raspberry Pi 4 B (Broadcom BCM2711)

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N4505 is based on the Jasper Lake architecture and was developed for affordable desktop computers.

Manufactured using a 10 nm process, this processor provides two cores and two threads. The single-core performance is significantly higher than that of the comparison model, which increases responsiveness for simple applications. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 16 EUs handles graphical tasks, although gaming performance remains limited to undemanding titles.

Thanks to a memory bandwidth of 47 GB/s and 4 MB of Level 3 cache, data is processed efficiently. The thermal design power is low, enabling compact enclosures. The Intel Celeron N4505 offers a balanced ratio for office work. PCIe 3.0 also ensures standardized connectivity for expansions and regulated data transfer within the system.

The Broadcom BCM2711 is built on the Cortex-A72 architecture and is primarily used in the Raspberry Pi 4 B. This processor is produced using a 28 nm process and features four cores. Despite the higher core count, the single-core performance is lower than that of the Intel Celeron N4505.

Graphics output is provided by the Broadcom VideoCore VI, which was designed for simple multimedia applications. The memory bandwidth of 13 GB/s and the lack of a Level 3 cache limit data throughput for computationally intensive tasks. A major advantage is the very low power consumption, which often allows operation without active cooling.

The Broadcom BCM2711 is suitable for specialized DIY projects or simple server applications where compact dimensions and low operating costs are prioritized.
