Intel Celeron N4020 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N4020 (Q3 2019) is a 14 nm processor of the Gemini Lake architecture with 2 cores, 2 threads, and 4 MB L3 cache, designed for basic tasks in cost-effective devices.

The Intel Processor N100 (Q1 2023) is based on the more modern 10 nm Alder Lake N architecture, offering 4 cores, 4 threads, as well as 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache, for improved everyday performance in modern entry-level systems.

The Intel Processor N100 significantly outperforms the Intel Celeron N4020 in single-core and multi-core performance. Its Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake) also offer noticeably better graphics performance than the Intel UHD Graphics 600 of the N4020, although both processors are not suitable for demanding gaming.

The maximum memory bandwidth for both is 38 GB/s. Both processors are designed for energy efficiency, with a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 6 watts, ideal for fanless systems. The Intel Celeron N4020 is found in very affordable or older devices. The Intel Processor N100 offers a significantly better performance-per-watt ratio and justifies its higher price through increased performance in modern entry-level systems.

For most users looking for a more responsive system, the Intel Processor N100 is the superior choice.
