Intel Celeron J4125 vs Intel Atom C3538

The Intel Celeron J4125 (Gemini Lake architecture), introduced in late 2019, targets cost-effective desktops and embedded systems.

The Intel Atom C3538 (Denverton architecture), launched in late 2016, is designed for network devices and microservers.

Both CPUs are manufactured using the 14nm process and feature 4 cores and 4 threads. The Intel Celeron J4125 offers 4 MB of Level-3 cache, 38 GB/s memory bandwidth (PCIe 2.0), and Intel UHD Graphics 600. The Intel Atom C3538 has 8 MB of Level-2 cache, 34 GB/s memory bandwidth (PCIe 3.0), but no integrated graphics unit.

In single-core performance, the Intel Celeron J4125 significantly outperforms the Intel Atom C3538 (over 10 percent difference). The Intel Celeron J4125 is well suited for entry-level desktops and HTPCs. The Intel Atom C3538 is better suited for specialized server and network solutions where stability and PCIe 3.0 are crucial.
