The Intel Celeron J3455, based on the Apollo Lake architecture, was introduced in late 2016 and is aimed at cost-effective, energy-efficient systems such as HTPCs, NAS devices, and entry-level desktops.

The Intel Celeron J6413, a representative of the Elkhart Lake architecture, was launched in late 2021 and is designed for embedded systems, industrial applications, and thin clients where modern connectivity and improved efficiency are required.

The Intel Celeron J3455 is manufactured using a 14 nm process and features four cores and four threads. The Intel Celeron J6413 benefits from a more advanced 10 nm manufacturing process, also with four cores and four threads. This newer manufacturing process typically allows for higher transistor density and improved energy efficiency.

In terms of single-core performance, the Intel Celeron J6413 shows a clear advantage over the Intel Celeron J3455. This is due to the more modern architecture and optimized manufacturing process, which enable higher instructions per cycle (IPC). For multi-core performance, both CPUs are in the entry-level segment, with the Intel Celeron J6413 delivering superior overall performance in more computationally intensive, parallelizable tasks due to its architecture.

Neither of these processors is primarily designed for demanding gaming scenarios. The Intel Celeron J3455 uses Intel HD Graphics 500, which is sufficient for basic desktop applications and very light, older games. The Intel Celeron J6413 is equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 16 EUs (Elkhart Lake), which represents a more modern and powerful integrated graphics unit.

Upon its introduction, the Intel Celeron J3455 was a cost-effective option for basic systems.

The Intel Celeron J6413 offers an improved price-performance ratio for modern entry-level and embedded solutions, as it provides newer technologies and higher performance per watt at an often comparable or slightly higher price. Direct end-consumer prices are difficult to ascertain for these types of processors, which are often sold as part of a system, but the newer Intel Celeron J6413 represents the more current technology base.

The Intel Celeron J3455 is a solid choice for very basic computing needs and cost-sensitive projects. It is well-suited for older systems that do not have high performance demands. The Intel Celeron J6413 offers a significant increase in performance and efficiency, thanks to its newer Elkhart Lake architecture and more advanced 10 nm manufacturing process.

It is the better choice for applications that benefit from improved single-core performance, more modern integrated graphics (Intel UHD Graphics 16 EUs (Elkhart Lake)), and faster connectivity, including PCIe 3.0 and a doubled maximum memory bandwidth of 60 GB/s compared to 30 GB/s.
