Intel Celeron J1900 vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron J1900 (Bay Trail) was developed for energy-efficient entry-level and embedded systems such as older thin clients or mini-PCs.

The Intel Processor N97 (Alder Lake N) is a more current chip for modern, cost-effective systems such as mini-PCs and laptops, offering improved performance with low consumption.

The Intel Celeron J1900 is manufactured using a 22 nm process and features 4 cores, 4 threads, 2 MB Level 3 cache, PCIe 2.0, and 21 GB/s max. memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N97 uses a 10 nm process with 4 efficiency cores, 4 threads, 4 MB Level 2 and 6 MB Level 3 cache, PCIe 3.0, and 38 GB/s max.

memory bandwidth. In performance tests, the Intel Processor N97 shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance than the Intel Celeron J1900, with a performance difference of over 10 percent in favor of the Intel Processor N97. For gaming, both processors are only very limitedly suitable.

The Intel Celeron J1900 uses Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail GT1). The Intel Processor N97 offers better, but still basic, graphics performance for light games and multimedia with Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), supported by higher memory bandwidth. Both CPUs are characterized by low power consumption, ideal for fanless systems.

The Intel Celeron J1900 is an older model. The Intel Processor N97 offers a significantly better price-performance ratio for current entry-level systems due to its considerably higher computing power.
