Intel Atom Z3735F vs Intel Celeron N3050

Last updated:
The Intel Atom Z3735F, based on the Bay Trail architecture, was designed for energy-efficient, cost-effective devices such as tablets and mini-PCs.

It is manufactured using a 22 nm fabrication process and features four cores and four threads. The integrated graphics solution is Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail GT1). The processor shows noticeably better performance in multi-core tasks. For single-core performance, there are varying results depending on the benchmark, where it leads in one relevant benchmark and is surpassed by the Intel Celeron N3050 in another.

Its maximum memory bandwidth is 11 GB/s. For gaming, this processor is only suitable for very undemanding titles due to its low graphics performance and bandwidth. Its design aims for minimal power consumption, making it ideal for passively cooled systems and long battery life. The Intel Celeron N3050, part of the Braswell architecture, is also intended for the entry-level segment and low-power systems.

It is manufactured using a more advanced 14 nm fabrication process and has two cores and two threads. The integrated graphics unit is Intel HD Graphics 400. Compared to the Intel Atom Z3735F, it offers higher performance in single-core applications in a relevant benchmark. However, it falls behind the quad-core processor in multi-core tasks.

With a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s, its graphics performance is slightly better, which can make a minimal difference in very simple games. The more efficient manufacturing process and architecture enable balanced performance with moderate power consumption, typical for fanless netbooks or compact desktops.

As these are older processors, both are rarely available individually in retail. Their price-performance ratio was positioned in the segment of inexpensive entry-level devices. For applications that benefit from many cores, the Intel Atom Z3735F is more advantageous. For tasks requiring slightly stronger single-core performance or minimally better graphics performance, the Intel Celeron N3050 is the more suitable choice.

Intel Atom Z3735F

  • Four cores for multi-tasking efficiency in very light applications.
  • Very low power consumption, ideal for passively cooled systems.
  • Based on the 22 nm Bay Trail architecture.

Intel Celeron N3050

  • More efficient 14 nm fabrication process.
  • Slightly higher single-core performance in certain scenarios.
  • Somewhat better integrated graphics performance with Intel HD Graphics 400 and higher memory bandwidth.
