The Intel Atom x5-Z8350, introduced in the first quarter of 2016, was developed for extremely energy-efficient entry-level devices such as tablets and mini-PCs.

It is based on the Cherry Trail architecture, manufactured using a 14 nm process with 4 cores and 4 threads, as well as 2 MB of Level 3 cache. Its integrated graphics is the Intel HD Graphics 400. In single and multi-core performance, it is designed for very basic tasks. The TDP is typically 4 watts, which enables fanless systems.

Its maximum memory bandwidth is 13 GB/s. The Intel Processor N100, available since the first quarter of 2023, targets entry-level laptops and mini-PCs and offers significantly improved performance.

It utilizes the Alder Lake N architecture and is manufactured using a 10 nm process, also with 4 cores and 4 threads, but features 4 MB of Level 2 cache and 6 MB of Level 3 cache. Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. In single and multi-core scenarios, the N100 significantly outperforms the x5-Z8350.

The TDP is 6 watts, which continues to make it very energy-efficient. Comparatively, the Intel Processor N100 is far superior to the Intel Atom x5-Z8350 in terms of computing performance, both for single-core and multi-core tasks. This also applies to graphics performance, where the N100's newer UHD Graphics offers a significantly better experience for simple applications.

The Atom x5-Z8350 scores with even lower power consumption, thus enabling extremely cost-effective hardware for minimalist requirements. For only a slightly higher energy requirement, the N100 offers a significantly better price-performance ratio for modern basic computing tasks.
