Apple A13 Bionic vs Apple M3 (8-GPU)

Last updated:
The Apple A13 Bionic, introduced in late 2019, is primarily designed for mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads.

Manufactured using the 7-nm process, it utilizes an A13 (Lightning / Thunder) architecture with a combination of performance and efficiency cores. It features 8 MB of Level 2 cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. This processor offers solid performance for everyday mobile applications, while its integrated graphics (Apple A13) renders common mobile titles smoothly.

Optimized for energy efficiency, it ensures long battery life. The A13 Bionic is found today in older, more affordable Apple devices and is a reliable choice for basic mobile usage. The Apple M3 (8-GPU), introduced in late 2023, is designed for entry-level Mac models and offers significantly higher performance.

Manufactured using the more advanced 3-nm process, it is based on the M3 architecture with four performance and four efficiency cores, as well as a powerful 8-core GPU (Apple M3 (8 Core)). With 20 MB of Level 2 cache, a memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s, and support for PCIe 4.0, it delivers significantly increased single-core and multi-core performance.

The superior graphics also enable much better performance in demanding games. It can be found in current, higher-priced Macs and is the clear choice for users who require significantly higher computing and graphics performance for demanding desktop tasks.
