AMD Ryzen 3 3100 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 3 3100, introduced in the second quarter of 2020, is a desktop processor based on the 7 nm "Matisse" (Zen 2) architecture with 4 cores and 8 threads.

It supports PCIe 4.0 and offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s. This processor delivers significantly higher single-core performance and over 70 percent superior multi-core performance compared to the Intel Processor N100.

This makes it a better choice for demanding applications and gaming, provided a dedicated graphics card is used. Its Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 65 watts, which requires active cooling and means higher power consumption. It was a good value-for-money offer but is mostly available used today. The Intel Processor N100, released in the first quarter of 2023, is an energy-efficient processor for mini-PCs and embedded systems.

Manufactured using the 10 nm (Intel 7) process with "Alder Lake N" architecture, it features 4 efficiency cores and 4 threads. It integrates Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and offers PCIe 3.0 with a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. Its processing power is designed for basic tasks such as web browsing and media playback but is significantly lower than that of the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and not suitable for demanding games.

Its outstanding feature is its extremely low TDP of just 6 watts, which enables fanless systems and maximum energy efficiency. Its value lies in the low system price as an integrated solution.

AMD Ryzen 3 3100

  • Higher CPU performance (single- and multi-core)
