The AMD Opteron X3421 is an older AMD processor (Toronto, Excavator architecture) primarily developed for energy-efficient embedded systems.

The Intel Processor N100 is a modern Intel processor based on the Alder Lake N architecture, designed for cost-effective and energy-efficient mini-PCs and thin clients.

The AMD Opteron X3421 is manufactured using the 28 nm fabrication process and offers four cores and four threads. It features 2 MB of L2 cache. The Intel Processor N100 uses the more advanced 10 nm fabrication process, also with four cores and four threads (Gracemont architecture).

This processor integrates 4 MB of L2 cache and 6 MB of L3 cache. Both support PCIe 3.0 and offer a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. Due to its older architecture, the AMD Opteron X3421 shows limited single-core and multi-core performance. Its integrated AMD Radeon R7 - 512 (Toronto) graphics unit is only suitable for basic graphics output and very light, older games.

Thanks to its modern architecture, the Intel Processor N100 offers significantly superior single-core and multi-core performance. Its Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) delivers better results for casual games and multimedia applications. The AMD Opteron X3421 has a TDP of approximately 15W.

The Intel Processor N100 is characterized by a very low TDP of 6W, ideal for fanless systems. As an older product, the AMD Opteron X3421 is hardly available new; its price-performance ratio is irrelevant for new purchases. The Intel Processor N100 offers a very good price-performance ratio and is available in many new, affordable devices.

For modern systems and applications, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear recommendation; the AMD Opteron X3421 is only relevant for replacement in existing legacy systems.
