AMD FX-8300 vs AMD FX-8320E

The AMD FX-8300 and AMD FX-8320E are desktop processors based on AMD's Vishera (Bulldozer) architecture, manufactured using a 32 nm process.

Both offer 8 cores, 8 MB of Level 3 Cache, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s, designed for the mainstream market and multitasking. In terms of performance, both CPUs achieve very similar results in single-core benchmarks like Cinebench R23 (under 10 percent difference). This means that the core performance, and thus also gaming performance, which depends on a few strong cores, is almost identical.

In multi-core applications, they deliver comparable multithread performance thanks to their 8 cores. The AMD FX-8320E, as an "E" variant, is optimized for energy efficiency, which means lower heat generation and reduced power consumption under load due to adjusted clock frequencies – ideal for quieter systems.

The AMD FX-8300 offers a slightly higher standard clock rate. Both are older models, mainly available used, and their price/performance ratio is limited compared to current architectures. Users who value lower heat generation and energy efficiency will choose the AMD FX-8320E.

For a marginal performance advantage through higher clock frequencies, if power consumption is less important, the AMD FX-8300 might be slightly preferred.
