AMD A10-7850K vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The AMD A10-7850K, introduced in 2014, was a 28 nm APU (Kaveri/Steamroller) with four CPU cores and 4 MB Level 3 Cache, intended for the mainstream desktop market and light gaming.

In contrast, the Intel Processor N100 appeared in 2023 as a 10 nm processor (Alder Lake N) for energy-efficient entry-level desktops.

It offers four efficient cores with 4 MB Level 2 Cache and 6 MB Level 3 Cache. Thanks to its modern architecture, the Intel N100 delivers significantly higher computing power. Both CPUs support PCIe 3.0. In gaming scenarios, the AMD A10-7850K, with its integrated AMD Radeon R7 Graphics (512 Kaveri), offers better performance for older titles at low settings than the N100's Intel UHD Graphics (24 EUs, Alder Lake), which is primarily designed for display output.

The maximum memory bandwidth is 34 GB/s for the A10-7850K and 38 GB/s for the N100, which affects iGPU performance. The Intel Processor N100 is characterized by extremely low power consumption and low TDP, ideal for fanless systems. The A10-7850K has a significantly higher TDP. Price-wise, the A10-7850K is an outdated used-market processor.

The N100 offers excellent value for money for modern basic tasks. For most use cases, the Intel Processor N100 is the superior choice; the A10-7850K only for very specific, older gaming builds.
