AMD A10-7850K vs Intel Core i5-3570

Last updated:
The AMD A10-7850K is an Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) from AMD that was launched in early 2014.

It was developed for mainstream users looking for an integrated solution for everyday tasks and light gaming without a dedicated graphics card. Manufactured using the 28 nm process, it is based on the Kaveri architecture (Steamroller) and features four CPU cores. The integrated graphics unit is the AMD Radeon R7 - 512 (Kaveri).

It offers 4 MB of Level 3 Cache, supports PCIe 3.0, and achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. In single-core performance, the AMD A10-7850K is noticeably below that of the Intel Core i5-3570.

For gaming without a dedicated graphics card, however, the AMD A10-7850K is clearly the better choice. Its Thermal Design Power (TDP) tends to be higher. Historically, it offered good value for money for all-in-one systems. The Intel Core i5-3570 from Intel was released in mid-2012 and was aimed at mainstream desktop users who needed solid CPU performance.

This processor is manufactured using the finer 22 nm process and utilizes the Ivy Bridge S architecture. It has four CPU cores and is equipped with the integrated graphics unit Intel HD Graphics 2500. It offers 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, also supports PCIe 3.0, and achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s.

The Intel Core i5-3570 offers superior single-core performance and also shows higher performance in applications that benefit from multiple cores. For gaming without a separate graphics card, it is less suitable. Its lower TDP indicates more efficient operation. It was priced higher but offered stronger CPU performance for systems with discrete graphics cards.
