The
AMD GX-224IJ processor is an interesting component from 2016. It is based on the
Prairie Falcon Excavator+ architecture and was manufactured using a 28 nm process. This allowed for a balanced mix of performance and energy efficiency for its target applications. A particularly positive feature is its integrated graphics unit, the AMD Radeon R4E (Beema).
This equipment was very useful at the time for realizing compact system solutions. It often made separate graphics cards unnecessary. Even in the years that followed, this integrated solution has proven its worth for many applications. With 1 MB of Level 2 cache, the processor supported fast access to important data.
The memory throughput rate of 17 GB/s also contributed to the overall performance. The
AMD GX-224IJ was often installed in systems where an efficient and space-saving all-in-one solution was important. Its design aimed for reliability and long product availability. We see it as a good example of a solid embedded processor that reliably performed its tasks.
