The AMD A8-7100, a processor from the Kaveri generation, offered an interesting combination for notebooks. It was designed to deliver a balanced mix of processing power and graphics capability. Based on the Steamroller architecture, this APU combined processing cores with an integrated AMD Radeon R5 graphics unit on a single chip.

This integrated approach opened up many possibilities. Its main strength undoubtedly lay in this integrated graphics solution. It enabled solid performance for common applications, as well as smooth playback of HD videos and playing less demanding titles. A 4 MB Level 3 cache supported fast data access.

We noticed how well this combination worked for a broad user base that didn't need a high-end system. The design aimed to ensure a good user experience, especially in mobile devices without a separate graphics card. Manufactured in the 28nm process, the AMD A8-7100 offered a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s, which additionally supported the integrated graphics.

It was a smart choice for many everyday notebooks.
