MediaTek Helio A22 vs AMD Ryzen Z2

The MediaTek Helio A22 is a mobile processor designed for cost-efficiency and basic functions for entry-level smartphones or simple IoT devices.

It is manufactured using a 16 nm process and utilizes the Cortex-A53 architecture. The AMD Ryzen Z2, on the other hand, is a modern processor from the 4 nm manufacturing process with Zen 4 (Hawk Point) architecture, designed for more demanding tasks in handheld gaming devices and compact PCs.

In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen Z2 significantly surpasses the MediaTek Helio A22 in single-core and multi-core scenarios, which is attributable to its advanced architecture. This allows for significantly faster application execution. For gaming, the AMD Ryzen Z2 is clearly superior with its integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics (RDNA 3) and 77 GB/s memory bandwidth; the Helio A22's PowerVR GE8300 and 13 GB/s bandwidth are only suitable for very simple games.

For basic, cost-sensitive applications, the MediaTek Helio A22 is suitable; for high computing performance and gaming in mobile form factors, the AMD Ryzen Z2 is the better choice.
