Intel Processor N100 vs Intel Pentium Gold G5400T

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium Gold G5400T, introduced in the second quarter of 2018, is based on the Coffee Lake S architecture and is manufactured using a 14nm process.

It targets the entry-level desktop market for basic office and home computers. With 2 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB L3 cache, and Intel HD Graphics 610, it offers solid performance for everyday tasks. Its TDP is 35 Watts, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in the first quarter of 2023, uses the more modern Alder Lake N architecture and is manufactured using a more energy-efficient 10nm process.

It targets compact and low-power systems such as mini-PCs and entry-level laptops. With 4 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB L2 cache, 6 MB L3 cache, and Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), it offers higher performance. Its extremely low TDP of 6 Watts makes it ideal for fanless designs. The maximum memory bandwidth is also 38 GB/s.

In terms of performance, the Intel Processor N100 significantly outperforms the Intel Pentium Gold G5400T. Single-core performance is over 60 percent higher, and multi-core performance is more than twice as high. Neither is intended for demanding gaming; the N100, with its newer graphics unit, offers slightly better performance for simple multimedia applications.

The N100's lower TDP (6 Watts vs. 35 Watts) offers superior energy efficiency. The N100's price-performance ratio is better for new systems. The Intel Pentium Gold G5400T is an option for very basic desktop tasks in existing systems, while the Intel Processor N100 is the superior choice for new, energy-efficient systems.
