Intel Processor N100 vs Intel Core Ultra 7 255U

Last updated:
The Intel Processor N100 was introduced in early 2023, based on the Alder Lake N architecture and manufactured using a 10-nm process.

It is aimed at budget-conscious users and is frequently used in compact, energy-efficient systems. With four cores and a 4 MB Level 2 and 6 MB Level 3 cache, this processor provides a sufficient foundation for daily office tasks and web browsing. In benchmarks such as Geekbench 6, the Intel Processor N100 shows stable base performance, which is, however, significantly lower than that of the comparison model.

The difference far exceeds the 10 percent mark. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) is designed for multimedia content but offers little reserve for gaming. Thanks to the low Thermal Design Power, power consumption is minimal. The price-performance ratio is advantageous for simple application areas.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 255U was released in early 2024, utilizes the Meteor Lake U Refresh architecture and is manufactured in a 3-nm process.

This processor is designed for mobile systems that require high efficiency combined with strong computing power. Due to a higher number of cores and threads as well as a 12 MB Level 2 cache, it significantly outperforms the entry-level model, though it lacks a Level 3 cache. In multi-core benchmarks, it achieves much higher performance than the Intel Processor N100, and a significant lead is also measurable in single-core tasks.

The integrated Intel Iris Xe 4 Core Graphics 64 EUs (Meteor Lake) benefits from a high memory bandwidth of 134 GB/s, enabling smoother workflows in graphic applications and light gaming. The Intel Core Ultra 7 255U is the recommendation for productive multitasking in the premium segment.
