Intel Pentium Silver N6000 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium Silver N6000 and the Intel Processor N100 are both processors designed for energy-efficient and cost-effective systems, typically for entry-level laptops, mini-PCs, or fanless devices.

The Intel Pentium Silver N6000 is based on the Jasper Lake architecture and was manufactured using a 10 nm process. It features four cores and four threads. The Intel Processor N100, on the other hand, utilizes the more modern Alder Lake N architecture, also manufactured using a 10 nm process, and also offers four cores and four threads, which are designed as efficiency cores.

When comparing single-core and multi-core performance, the Intel Processor N100 shows significantly higher performance. In synthetic tests, the Intel Processor N100 considerably outperforms its predecessor in both single-core and multi-core performance. This indicates noticeably better responsiveness for everyday tasks and more efficient processing during moderate multitasking usage.

The Intel Pentium Silver N6000 can handle basic tasks, but for a smoother user experience and future requirements, the Intel Processor N100 offers clear advantages. Regarding gaming, both processors are not designed for demanding games. The integrated graphics solution of the Intel Processor N100, the Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units (EUs) based on the Alder Lake architecture, offers a more modern architecture despite fewer EUs than the Intel UHD Graphics 32 EUs (Jasper Lake) of the Intel Pentium Silver N6000.

In combination with the superior CPU performance of the Intel Processor N100, a tendentially better, though still limited, performance can be expected in very simple games. For serious gaming, both CPUs are unsuitable. Power consumption and Thermal Design Power (TDP) are very similar for both processors and are in the low single-digit watt range.

This allows for their use in passively cooled systems and contributes to a long battery life in mobile devices. The price-performance ratio clearly favors the Intel Processor N100. Although devices with the Intel Processor N100 may be slightly more expensive, the significantly higher performance justifies the surcharge and offers a better investment in the future.

Current market prices vary depending on the device and configuration. In summary, the Intel Processor N100 offers clearly better overall performance and a more modern foundation. The Intel Pentium Silver N6000 is a budget-friendly option for very basic requirements, while the Intel Processor N100 is recommended for a noticeably smoother and more responsive experience, especially for everyday office work, web browsing, and media consumption.
