The Intel Core m3-8100Y, introduced in 2018 as the Amber Lake Y-Generation, was developed for fanless, energy-saving devices such as thin notebooks or tablets and manufactured using the 14 nm process.

It features 4 MB of Level 3 Cache and a memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 615 offers basic graphics performance. Its computing power, both single-core and multi-core, is significantly lower than that of the Intel Processor N100, making it unsuitable for demanding tasks or gaming.

Its strength lies in its very low power consumption and suitability for passively cooled systems, but it has a weaker price-performance ratio compared to newer CPUs. The Intel Processor N100, part of the Alder Lake N-Generation and introduced in 2023, is designed for cost-effective entry-level devices such as mini-PCs or educational laptops.

It is manufactured using the modern 10 nm process and features 4 MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache. Its maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s and the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) surpass those of the Intel Core m3-8100Y. In benchmarks, it shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance.

Its graphics performance is also better for very light games or multimedia. It is characterized by high energy efficiency and a superior price-performance ratio for current applications. Recommendation: For modern applications and a better overall package, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear recommendation.

The Intel Core m3-8100Y is only still relevant for extremely simple tasks in older, fanless systems.
