Intel Core i7-8565U vs Intel Processor N150

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-8565U, based on the Whiskey Lake U architecture, was introduced in late 2018 or early 2019, primarily for ultrabooks and thin notebooks.

It is manufactured using the 14 nm manufacturing process and features a proven multi-core architecture that offers solid performance for everyday productivity tasks and light multitasking. In benchmarks like Geekbench 6, the Intel Core i7-8565U shows noticeably higher single-core and multi-core performance compared to the Intel Processor N150.

Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 is only suitable for basic graphics applications and very light games. With 8 MB of Level 3 Cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, it is designed for responsive operation. Its power consumption is higher compared to the N150. Due to its age, it is often found today in used or refurbished devices, where it can offer good value for money.

The Intel Processor N150, introduced in 2023 and based on the Twin Lake architecture, is designed for energy-efficient entry-level devices. It is manufactured using the more modern 7 nm manufacturing process, which allows for higher energy efficiency and lower power consumption, especially under light load.

Its core configuration is optimized for low power consumption and long battery life, making it ideal for fanless designs. Although it scores lower in single-core and multi-core performance than the Intel Core i7-8565U in benchmarks like Geekbench 6, it offers sufficient performance for basic tasks such as web browsing, word processing, and media consumption.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), similar to the UHD 620, is not designed for demanding gaming. It features 4 MB of Level 2 Cache and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, also with a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. As a newer model, it is found in current, affordable devices.
