Both were manufactured using the 14nm process and support PCIe 3.0. The Intel Core i5-6500 features 4 cores and 4 threads with 6 MB of Level 3 cache. The Intel Core i7-7700K also offers 4 cores, but thanks to Hyper-Threading, it has 8 threads and 8 MB of Level 3 cache.

This results in significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance for the Intel Core i7-7700K, making it superior for computationally intensive tasks. In gaming, the Intel Core i7-7700K delivers clearly better performance with smoother frame rates due to higher clock speeds and threads.

Its Intel HD Graphics 630 is a slight improvement over the Intel HD Graphics 530 of the Intel Core i5-6500. However, for demanding gaming, a dedicated graphics card is essential for both. The Intel Core i5-6500 has lower thermal design power (TDP) and power consumption. The Intel Core i7-7700K has a higher TDP, which requires more power consumption and more robust cooling.
