Intel Core i5-12500T vs Intel Processor N100

The Intel Core i5-12500T was released in early 2022 and is based on the Alder Lake S architecture.

It was designed for users of compact desktop systems who require an efficient working environment. Manufactured in a 10 nm process, this processor offers six cores and twelve threads and is thus designed for parallel tasks. In synthetic benchmarks, the Intel Core i5-12500T shows significantly higher computing power compared to the entry-level segment, in both single-core and multi-core performance.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770 enables basic graphical tasks, although gaming suitability remains limited to undemanding titles. With a TDP of 35 watts and support for PCIe 5.0 as well as a high memory bandwidth, it is optimized for productive applications. The price-performance ratio is balanced for office computers, as it represents a solid foundation for multitasking.

The Intel Processor N100, introduced in early 2023, uses the Alder Lake N architecture and is primarily intended for power-saving microcomputers or fanless systems.

It features four cores without hyperthreading and is also manufactured in a 10 nm process. In terms of computing power, the Intel Processor N100 lags significantly behind the i5 model, which qualifies it more for simple office work or web browsing. The Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) is sufficient for video playback but is hardly suitable for gaming.

With a very low TDP of only 6 watts, the focus is on maximum energy efficiency. Connection is via PCIe 3.0 with reduced memory bandwidth. It represents a cost-effective solution for users who have minimal hardware requirements and prefer silent operation.
