Intel Core i5-10500E vs Apple A18 Pro

Last updated:
The Intel Core i5-10500E was released in the second quarter of 2020 and is primarily designed for use in industrial systems as well as desktop computers.

It uses the Comet Lake S architecture and is produced in a 14-nanometer process. With six cores and twelve threads, it offers a decent basis for parallel tasks. In terms of computing power in common benchmarks, the model ranks in a stable range, with single-core performance being sufficient for standard applications.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 is suitable for image output but is insufficient for demanding gaming. Power consumption is typical for desktop environments, while the memory bandwidth is 43 GB/s. The price-performance ratio is appropriate for industrial replacement procurement. Its strength lies in its reliability for stationary workstations as well as compatibility with proven hardware and PCIe 3.0 interfaces.

The Apple A18 Pro is a chip for mobile devices and was developed for users who require high computing power with maximum energy efficiency.

Production takes place in a 3-nanometer process under the Donan architecture. With a configuration of six cores, this processor achieves significantly higher performance in single-core and multi-core benchmarks than the comparison model from Intel. The integrated graphics unit with six cores enables smooth display in graphics-intensive applications and significantly outperforms Intel's integrated solution.

Due to the higher memory bandwidth of 60 GB/s and optimized cache structures, the system responds very quickly. Due to the low thermal design power, the chip is ideal for compact designs without active cooling. Despite being integrated into expensive end devices, the price-performance ratio is good in terms of efficiency.

It is the ideal choice for mobile high-performance applications.
