Intel Core i3-8300T vs Intel Processor N100

The Intel Core i3-8300T and the Intel Processor N100 serve different segments in the desktop processor market.

The Intel Core i3-8300T uses the Coffee Lake S architecture for energy-efficient office PCs, while the Intel Processor N100 is based on the Alder Lake N architecture for economical ultra-small systems. In manufacturing, the Intel Core i3-8300T uses the 14 nm process, whereas the Intel Processor N100 uses the more modern 10 nm process.

Both models have four cores and four threads. The Intel Core i3-8300T offers 8 MB of Level 3 cache, as well as PCIe 3.0 and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. The Intel Processor N100 combines 6 MB of Level 3 cache with 4 MB of Level 2 cache. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i3-8300T is measurably ahead in single-core performance, which brings advantages when executing individual program commands.

For multi-core considerations, the Intel Processor N100 delivers solid results for everyday web applications. In terms of gaming, both chips are limited; the Intel UHD Graphics 630 and the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) primarily serve image output and simple graphic applications. The Thermal Design Power differs significantly: 35 watts for the Intel Core i3-8300T compared to an extremely frugal 6 watts for the Intel Processor N100.

The latter enables silent designs in compact cases. While the Intel Core i3-8300T represents a reliable basis for classic workstations, the Intel Processor N100 is the preferred choice for users who value minimal energy consumption and low acquisition costs.
