The Intel Core i3-8100T was launched as an energy-efficient desktop solution of the Coffee Lake S architecture.

It is aimed at users of small form factor systems who require solid basic performance with low heat generation. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i3-8100T shows significantly higher multi-core performance compared to its mobile counterpart, making it better equipped for parallel tasks.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles basic graphical tasks. With a Thermal Design Power of 35 watts, energy consumption remains moderate, which facilitates cooling. The Intel Core i3-8109U is based on the Coffee Lake U architecture and was primarily developed for compact devices.

Despite being manufactured in a 14-nanometer process, it only offers two cores with four threads through Hyper-Threading. In single-core performance, it shows varying results depending on the test method and can partially outperform the desktop model. It scores points primarily through the Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, which provides a better frame rate in gaming scenarios than the standard UHD graphics.

Power consumption is specified slightly lower with a TDP of 28 watts. Due to the smaller Level 3 cache of 4 MB, capacity is limited in computationally intensive applications. The Intel Core i3-8109U is recommended for users who need a stronger integrated graphics solution, while the Intel Core i3-8100T is the better choice for pure computing tasks.
