In benchmarks, the Intel Core i7-7700 shows significantly higher multi-core performance and noticeably better single-core performance compared to the Intel Core i3-7100.

This makes it ideal for more complex applications, demanding multitasking, and a smoother gaming experience in modern titles. Its higher power consumption under load requires a proportionally sized cooling solution. The Intel Core i3-7100, with two cores and four threads, also thanks to Hyper-Threading, is designed for basic applications and cost-effective systems.

It has 3 MB of Level 3 Cache, supports PCIe 3.0, and also achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. Its integrated graphics unit is the Intel HD Graphics 630. Although its single-core performance in certain use cases comes close to that of the Intel Core i7-7700, its multi-core performance is significantly lower.

It is more energy-efficient and requires less elaborate cooling, making it suitable for office work and web browsing. Both processors are primarily found on the used market today. For compute-intensive tasks and gaming, the Intel Core i7-7700 is the better choice, while the Intel Core i3-7100 is sufficient for very simple systems.
