The Intel Core i3-4130, introduced in the third quarter of 2013 with its Haswell S architecture, targeted the mainstream desktop market.

It was designed for everyday computing tasks such as office applications, web browsing, and light multitasking scenarios, offering a cost-effective option for standard PC systems. Manufactured on a 22 nm process, this processor features 2 cores and 4 threads thanks to Hyper-Threading. It integrates 3 MB of Level 3 Cache.

Connectivity to other components is provided via PCIe 3.0. Compared to the Broadcom BCM2712, the Intel Core i3-4130 shows significantly higher single-core performance and also noticeably stronger multi-core performance in typical benchmarks. Its single-core performance in Cinebench R23 is also superior.

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 allows the execution of older or less graphically demanding games with a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s. With a typical Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 54W, the Intel Core i3-4130 has higher power consumption. As an older processor, it is mostly only available on the used market today.

The Broadcom BCM2712 is the core of the Raspberry Pi 5 B, introduced in October 2023, and is aimed at developers, hobbyists, educational institutions, and users looking for an energy-efficient single-board computer. It stands for compactness and versatility in applications such as IoT, media centers, or for light desktop tasks.

Based on the modern Cortex-A76 architecture, this chip is manufactured by Broadcom using a 16 nm process. It offers 4 cores and 4 threads and features 2 MB of Level 2 Cache as well as 2 MB of Level 3 Cache. Connectivity is supported by PCIe 2.0. In direct comparison with the Intel Core i3-4130, the Broadcom BCM2712 achieves lower single-core performance and also slightly lower multi-core performance in demanding measurements, although it shows comparable single-core performance in Cinebench R23.

The integrated Broadcom VideoCore VII graphics are designed for multimedia and light graphical applications, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 17 GB/s. A major advantage is its very low power consumption and low Thermal Design Power (TDP). The Broadcom BCM2712 is offered as part of the Raspberry Pi 5 B at a very attractive price.
