Intel Core i3-4130 vs Intel Celeron J4105

Last updated:
The Intel Core i3-4130 is based on the Haswell S architecture and was designed for classic desktop computers.

Manufactured using a 22 nm process, this processor has two computing cores and four threads. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i3-4130 shows significantly higher single-core performance compared to the Celeron model. It also leads in multi-core performance, making it suitable for general office tasks.

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 allows for basic graphical displays but offers limited suitability for gaming. With a Thermal Design Power of 54 watts, power consumption is higher, requiring active cooling. Support for PCIe 3.0 enables fast connection of expansion cards. The Intel Core i3-4130 provides a solid foundation for simple applications and is an option for cost-effective office computers.

The Intel Celeron J4105 originates from the Gemini Lake architecture and is primarily intended for energy-saving mini-PCs or NAS systems.

It is manufactured using a 14 nm process and offers four physical cores. Despite the higher number of cores, single-core performance lags behind the Intel Core i3-4130, which is also reflected in the overall multi-core performance. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 supports modern video codecs but is hardly suitable for demanding games.

A major advantage is the low Thermal Design Power of only 10 watts, which often allows for fanless operation. The memory bandwidth is higher than the comparison model at 38 GB/s, while PCIe is available in version 2.0. The Intel Celeron J4105 is recommended for users looking for a silent system for simple media playback where energy efficiency plays a central role.
