The Intel Core i3-10100 was released in the second quarter of 2020 and is intended for users in the budget desktop segment.

Manufactured by Intel using the 14-nanometer process, the processor is based on the Comet Lake S architecture. It features four cores and eight threads and is equipped with a 6 MB Level 3 cache, while no Level 2 cache is present. Connectivity is via PCIe version 3.0 with a memory bandwidth of 43 GB/s.

In technical comparisons, the Intel Core i3-10100 delivers significantly higher performance under single-core and multi-core loads than the AMD alternative. Thanks to the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, it is better suited for simple games. The thermal design power is 65 watts, which makes active cooling necessary.

For low-cost office PCs, it offers a balanced price-to-performance ratio. The AMD Ryzen Embedded V1500B was developed for use in industrial systems and network storage.

AMD uses the Great Horned Owl architecture for this and also manufactures the chip in 14 nanometers. The processor offers four cores and eight threads, complemented by 2 MB Level 2 cache and 4 MB Level 3 cache. The maximum memory bandwidth is 38 GB/s. In relevant performance tests, the AMD Ryzen Embedded V1500B lags measurably behind the Intel model.

Since no integrated graphics are available, its suitability for games remains very low. The strength of this CPU lies in its energy efficiency with a low TDP of 12 to 25 watts. This makes it the preferred choice for fanless or continuously operated systems. Market costs are usually integrated into specialized hardware.
