Intel Celeron N4000 vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N4000, based on the Gemini Lake architecture, was primarily developed for entry-level devices and energy-saving systems such as thin clients and mini-PCs.

It focuses on basic computing tasks. Manufactured using the 14 nm process, it features 2 cores and 2 threads. Its L3 cache is 4 MB. Compared to the Intel Processor N97, the Intel Celeron N4000 shows significantly lower single-core and multi-core performance, sufficient for very simple applications such as web browsing, word processing, and media playback.

It is not suitable for demanding gaming with its integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600, but it can display older or graphically undemanding titles at minimal settings. This processor is known for its very low power consumption, which predisposes it to fanless designs. It offers a cost-effective solution for users who only need the most basic computing functions.

The Intel Processor N97, based on the newer Alder Lake N architecture, is also aimed at the entry-level segment but offers a more modern basis for mini-PCs, educational devices, and energy-efficient systems. It is manufactured using the more advanced 10 nm manufacturing process and features 4 cores and 4 threads.

It has 4 MB of L2 cache and 6 MB of L3 cache. The Intel Processor N97 delivers significantly higher single-core performance and substantially better multi-core performance than the Intel Celeron N4000. This enables smoother execution of everyday tasks and improved system responsiveness.

Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake) offers noticeably better graphics performance, allowing very simple titles to be played at low settings. This processor is also designed for high energy efficiency and provides significantly more computing power with moderate power requirements.

It represents an attractive option for users seeking a better balance between cost and performance.
