Intel Celeron N4000 vs Intel Pentium N4200

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium N4200 (Apollo Lake) and Intel Celeron N4000 (Gemini Lake) are energy-efficient Intel processors, both manufactured using the 14nm process.

They are designed for the entry-level segment in notebooks and mini-PCs for basic tasks. The Intel Pentium N4200 features four cores, four threads, 2 MB of Level 3 Cache, and Intel HD Graphics 505. With a maximum memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s, it delivers higher performance than the Celeron N4000 in multi-core applications and specific single-core benchmarks.

The Intel Celeron N4000 offers two cores, two threads, 4 MB of Level 3 Cache, and Intel UHD Graphics 600. Its maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s and slightly better single-core performance are optimized for very basic tasks. Both processors are unsuitable for demanding games; their integrated graphics units only allow for very simple titles at low settings.

The Intel UHD Graphics 600 of the Celeron potentially has a marginal advantage here. With a typical Thermal Design Power (TDP) of approximately 6 watts, both CPUs enable fanless designs and good battery life. They are positioned in the affordable segment and offer basic computing functions. For multitasking and slightly more demanding basic tasks, the Intel Pentium N4200 is the better choice.

The Intel Celeron N4000 is recommended when maximum energy efficiency and cost minimization for the simplest computing tasks are paramount.

Intel Pentium N4200

  • Four cores and four threads for multitasking.
  • Intel HD Graphics 505.
  • Higher multi-core performance and specific single-core performance.
  • For slightly more demanding basic tasks.

Intel Celeron N4000

  • Two cores and two threads for energy efficiency.
  • Intel UHD Graphics 600.
  • Slightly better single-core performance.
  • Ideal for maximum energy efficiency and cost minimization.
