Intel Celeron N4000 vs Intel Celeron N4020

The Intel Celeron N4000 was introduced at the end of 2017, while the Intel Celeron N4020 was launched at the end of 2019.

Both are mobile processors for the entry-level segment, installed in budget-friendly laptops and Chromebooks. They are based on Intel's Gemini Lake architecture, manufactured using a 14nm process, and feature two cores, two threads, and a 4 MB Level 3 cache. They are designed for basic tasks such as web browsing and word processing.

In terms of performance comparison, the Intel Celeron N4020 offers noticeably higher performance in single-core and multi-core scenarios, each exceeding 10 percent, which allows for marginally more responsive usage. Both processors are equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 600 and are unsuitable for demanding games; they are only sufficient for very simple or older casual games.

Their very low power consumption and low TDP enable fanless devices and long battery life. As entry-level CPUs, they offer basic performance at a low price, with the Intel Celeron N4020 showing a slightly improved price-performance ratio due to its better performance. The Intel Celeron N4000 is a budget-friendly choice for the most basic computing needs.

The Intel Celeron N4020, on the other hand, is a revised version with noticeably better performance for everyday tasks, without compromising efficiency. For marginally smoother operation at a small extra cost, the Intel Celeron N4020 is the more recommendable choice. For strict budget constraints, the Intel Celeron N4000 remains a viable option.
