Intel Celeron N3150 vs Intel Celeron J3455

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N3150, released in the first quarter of 2015, and the Intel Celeron J3455, released in the third quarter of 2016, are Intel processors designed for energy-efficient entry-level desktops and embedded systems.

Both target basic computing tasks. Both CPUs are manufactured using a 14nm process and feature 2 MB of Level 3 cache. The N3150 is based on the Braswell architecture with 26 GB/s memory bandwidth and integrated Intel HD Graphics 400. The J3455, with its Apollo Lake architecture, achieves 30 GB/s memory bandwidth and integrates the more powerful Intel HD Graphics 500.

The J3455 shows significantly higher computing performance; its single-core and multi-core performance surpasses that of the N3150 in benchmarks by well over 10 percent, making it noticeably more responsive in everyday applications. Both are unsuitable for demanding gaming. Detailed TDP values are missing, but both models are designed for low power consumption and are suitable for fanless systems.

As older processors, they are primarily found in used systems. The J3455 offers a better price-performance ratio due to its superior performance. For most entry-level applications, the Intel Celeron J3455 is the better choice. The N3150 is only an option for extremely cost-sensitive applications with the lowest performance requirements.
